Help. Chicken with huge swollen red butt

Has anymore discussion been made on this condition since 2010?
I too have a Ameraucana hen, 3 yrs, that has these symptoms. I'm hesitant about removing the fluid at this time because I have read other discussion on other links outside of this site that caution that removal of too much fluid at one time could result into your girl going into shock.
I initially treated her with warm baths as if she were egg bound, but I don't believe that is her case. She has not even laid an egg in almost 4 months. Prior to those 4 months she had gone almost 9 to 10 months without laying with just a short stint of laying between those periods. But during that short stint her eggs were good, hard shells.

My chickens butt is looking swollen and red too, sometimes she has a huge bulging red thing coming out of it. I don't what this is, but somebody please respond.:fl:cd

I have two extra large hens. Not sure of the breed. But one is sitting all the time and has a really red swollen vent. Soaked her for twenty minutes in warm water today and rubber her vent with mineral oil. Pic following is after all that. HELP!

There is no egg present and the rooster serviced her twice today. I didn't watch them all day, so he may have serviced her multiple times.
What is wrong? Am I after all a helicopter owner?

I'm having the same thing today with one of my year old copper marans. Noticed her standing by herself so I grabbed her and she had dried poop all over her butt feathers, her butt is mostly naked and seems puffy. It is soft though. Her vent seems enlarged like some pics that I've looked at. Should I do the bath thing and olive oil thing and keep her in the house in a pet taxi for awhile? Thanks for any help!!

My hen has the same thing. She is acting normal but has the big red bulge under her vent. I don’t want to eat any of her eggs, do you think we can get sick from them?
