Now, once you see how good your garden grows on nice organic well composted chicken poo... You will never go back to "miracle grow"..

For me designing my own chicken food, improved our families diets. Been "green" on the other stuff for some time know. "green" bug spay works great.... Next we will be trying a "green" sun lotion..

I doubt I'll ever go to a truly healthy diet, I love junk food WAY too much! I also live a smidge over 5 miles from a nuclear reactor...which I know is safe...but I don't mind encouraging the concerns other people have about living near the facility. If people question the safety of living close to a power plant I won't have to worry about my "middle of nowhere" becoming a "middle of somewhere"!

Hey! We managed to get a ton of a wheat, hemp and barley mix last year and our chooks did really really well on it. Sadly my supplier does not have any of this mix this year, but I am sold on it. They grew well, had gorgeous glossy feathers, and loved it. We are almost out, and just had a brewery open up here, and we have been getting their spent barley for feed. The chooks love it, but I have to say I have noticed a decline in their overall health. We give them tons of greens as well free range them, but I think the hemp in the other feed was a definite good thing.

get a guinea fowls flock for flea and ticks.. they also go after snakes, rats, mice, well basically everything... they got nuts on them lowers them.. ask the people near you if they would like theirs grazed as well.. if they are about the chem. also id prolly look into .. raw dog food if i were u as well

I came into a 10lb sack of hemp seed from folks who were experimenting with creating hemp milk. I’ve ground up the seed cores and mix it in with treats like yogurt, cooked lentils and other cooked grains once a day. My 4 hens get like a 1/2 tablespoon a day. They like it and they are very healthy. Their eggs taste great but I can’t tell if they are more nutritious. Before I started feeding them the hemp seed I did some research that pointed to it increasing omega fat in the eggs and no impact to egg production. One study was Canadian.
