The first thing you want to know is they are incredibly flighty and bounce straight up when startled. They can break their own necks if the top of their coop is hard material. They eat pretty much regular gamebird feed and fresh water supplemented by fresh greens and things, but also need grit likes chickens will. They are VERY fast and mine seem to enjoy "singing/crowing" in the middle of the night and waking me up roll

I raise Button quail, and they are a joy. They are not the cuddly type of animal, more finch-like. I sell hatching eggs and live birds.  You can visit my website. There is a lot of information on them on it and instead of me just repeating myself, I suggest you going there and checking it out smile

Don't you have to use bedding instead of wire.

Button quail have very tiny feet and bedding is suggested.

Coturnix should have bedding too but in the economical level the wire suites them better.

Hey team edward!!! frow ( I'm her friend that adores buttons! tongue )
Ha ha! This was really funny! I was reading threw the comments, and then I looked at the OP's username and I was like OMG that's my friend! lol

Bedding: I use Wood Shavings.
Diet: I feed mine Game Bird Crumbles from Gebo's. It's about $5.00 for a five pound bag. I also feed my buttons Parakeet food for treats. When ever I have too many eggs I boil them and feed them back to the quail. I also have a cuttle bone in their pen, they can peck at it and they get calcium. smile
Buddy, one of my 3 baby buttons I hand reared is quiet friendly. When I open the door to put fresh feed in he runs over to check out my hand! The other day I was taking pictures of them, so I opened up the door and Buddy runs over and starts pecking the camera! lol
Incubation: I have a home-made incubator, so I don't know how to ajest (SP?) the humitity or the temp? Anyway the temp is at 100 - 101 steady. For the humitity I just have pan of water under the egg tray. I turn them about 5 times a day, you can turn them more if needed.
How Long Does It Take Buttons To Hatch: 16 - 18 days. Mine hatched on day 17.
Hope this helps!

Oh, forgot to say that I they LOVE to take dustbaths!! It also helps keep their feathers nice and pretty. big_smile
Oh, on the parakeet food, it's probably better to feed them finch food. smile

Hehe! tongue
Yep, I was talking to my friend a few weeks back, and I was telling her I might order abunch of hatching eggs and asked her if she wanted to order with me? She said she'd have to ask her parents first, they said yes! big_smile
Then I decided not to order eggs until I had enough pens for 45 buttons. She is getting a Hova-Bator w/ auto quail egg turner.
