Hi Pinkchick!

Anyone know why my pics are coming up small when I put them on the forum? They are not small pics and I don't know why they are uploading small. They are even larger on my album than on here but when I post on the forum they are smaller..

Here are my suprise chicks that the broody Key West Hen hatched out in the woods. None of these look like KW chicks which typically hatch out chipmunky colored lol. Some look very Maran-ish with feathered shanks etc. I found the 'nest' with 9 hatched out dark Marans brown, Orp brown, and Olive eggs no white key west eggs at all.  She has 9 chicks still.

Too bad they all have to be considered mutts darn kw broodies! They are only supposed to hatch the eggs I GIVE them LOL!

Here she is on the loose in the woods before we caught her and all those chicks.

CUTIES!!!! And what a lovely hen!

Click on the photo that you want to post so that it displays the larger photo...right click on that photo, copy and paste to your post. This should give you the larger image. It's the only way I can get the larger images to show up. smile.png

Thanks pinkchick. She is a pretty hen and a great momma even though she is an evil spitter. The only time I can get near enough for pics is early in the morning when they are real hungry and I first feed them. Otherwise, she puffs up and attacks and all the chicks run underneath her.

We have two more KW broodies on pure silkie eggs and I let them each keep a few of their own KW eggs. One hatched a silkie chick this morning but she isn't letting me see it yet. I only know cuz she is clucking and has her wings spread out and there is a cracked open silkie egg that I marked laying next to her lol. KW Broodies are the best!! In the spring and summer, you can practically give them a clutch of eggs and thier own nest box in a private spot and they will go broody!

Kim, On the pics: That is what I did (copy and paste). That is the only way I know to post the pics here so far LOL.  Usually they upload larger but this time they are small and one can't click on them to make them larger either grrr. I can see I have more experimenting to do with posting stuff.

What a pretty Mama! I don't have any broodies yet, but in the brooder, the oldest chick that I'm thinking is a roo, will cover up the younger chicks with his wings! He's two weeks older than the rest, and it is sooo cute.

The only way I could get my pics to come up big, is to put them in my "Default" album, see the pic you want, left click on it, it should reappear bigger. It does take some time for it to enlarge! Then, right click on it when it's big, cop and paste to the post.

I should have my SD card tomorrow!!! Can't wait to try out the new camera! Of course, they are calling for rain....he.gif

I don't know what it takes to ship eggs to Canada, but I've shipped quite a few parcels there. It is NOT a speedy process from my experiences, even with Priority! I sent one parcel to British Columbia, via Priority, and it took SEVENTEEN  DAYS!! Not condusive to a great hatch, I wouldn't think?

Barb,  Do you know anyone in the USA near the border? Maybe you could meet someone there?  I would think too, that there would also need to be a health certificate of some kind as well??

Back from work already...short day! very happy about that since I've got more chicks coming out of the hatcher after I get organized for them. We've got quite a bit of rain up here today...wet and dreary, makes me want to take a nap! haha  Can't wait to see pics when you get a chance to play with your new camera

Lenette, that KW hen is a stunner....duckwing pattern? I can't totally see...but duckwing and birchen patterns are my all time favorites

Thanks Kim! I am in love with some of them! There are a few that will go live with my friend when she comes with my brooder, like the marans/wyandotte crosses and she'll pick up about a dozen layer girls for her flock. That will certainly free up some more space around here....I've got to get the rest of my breeder pens set up!

"Hatching eggs" are handled like live birds at the border so they can't be shipped into Canada. They can be shipped to a border-town post office, picked up there, and transported across that way - with all the same paperwork live birds require. I've heard anything from $150 to $200 for the paperwork on the US side (originating flock has to be inspected, I believe much like the NPIP program) and then the same sort of fee at Canadian customs for a vet to review the paperwork. hmm.png There are ways around this but suffice to say - eggs can't be commercially shipped across the border.
