Here's my first cuckoo Maran. I'm hoping it's a she, since I pulled her out of the pullet bin and she's black in color. What throws me off is "her" barring on her wings. She's roughly 3 weeks old and is feathering like crazy, pinning everywhere, even on her head. I'm sure by next week all the feathers will be in.

I will be crushed if she's a he. I don't have a name yet, due to being undecided of her sex. I think my light brahma is a boy too, also picked from the pullet bin.lol. I do know she's a Maran due to her very pink legs.

I think my babies are all cute- including my Sebbie goslings, my future Mandarin ducklings, same thing with my Aussie babies due in a few weeks, and my Big Blue Swedish ducklings due in a few weeks too. They're all adorable!

But how's this for a cutie patootie?!? And look at the copper highlights already showing up! Wowzers! (Is that a little roo too?)

Debbi... I may have my first broody too... he.gif not sure I want her to be broody.... She has pulled all her chest feathers out and I have had to fight her for the eggs for 3 days.  If she keeps it up, I will move her and see what she does.  I would not mind somebody else raising my babies.  I have some in lock down do you think that would fix her right up?

Just wanted to share.......loving all the chick pics!!!  These hatched today, 6 chicks for 6 eggs!   After 2 years of culling hard and some predator issues, these chicks are from my lone BCM roo and hen.  Last week 2 hatched from 3 eggs, 4 more on lockdown right now and 10 going into the incubator Tuesday for a friend :)

We have several different breeds and to be honest they are all very good tasting to us. Some might be able to tell the difference though-my mom has mentioned that when she gets eggs from us she can taste a difference in Marans eggs vs the other breeds eggs.

Happy Easter everyone smile.png told the older two they have to wait for the youngest to wake up before searching for baskets- could be awhile lol.png
