HAPPY EASTER  to all!

Donna ~ I'm the wrong one to ask broody questions to. Olivia quit her nest, and I tossed the eggs.

I have a friend who doesn't care for eggs, that is until she tried a Marans egg fried sandwich! She swore she never tasted an egg like that! I love the way mine taste..

Happy Easter Shawn!

So far, I only got 6 Silkie chicks from this hatch. One more has started to zip, but I'm starting to think it died. Of course, it looks like a White one, the color I need the most! he.gif  I see some vent trimming in the very near future. The ones that made it here are all very lively and eating/drinking well. 3 Blues, 2 Splash Partridge?, and 1 Black.

Yes, thanks to Wynette and Rob, it looks like I can post again!

Grass needs to mowed again. I still have to till the garden spot, but I think it may still be too wet, we'll see later. I had my Dopey, yes she is aptly named!, chicken go through the border fence yesterday, out into my neighbors field. Dumb cluck then could not figure out how to get back in. With all that white feathering, she was hawk bait for sure. I finally walked the fenceline with her and got her back to where she got out. Tapped her in the butt with my net, and she managed to squeeze her pudgy butt back through the fence! gig.gif At that point she was a tad unnerved, and demanded to go back into the run with big daddy Clyde! So, the name Dopey sticks! None of the other birds have ever even tried to go out of the yard. There's one in every crowd I guess...

Happy Easter to everyone!

Maybe I'm mixed up a little and if I am please straighten me out. I was cruising Craigslist this morning and ran across this ad.
Quote:
I have 24 + Blue Marans hatching eggs for sale this week, the eggs will be ready to be picked up on Wednesday April 11th, 2012. My pullets/roosters are black, blue, and splash in color. These birds lay some really dark brown eggs. These eggs will produce mostly blue and splash chicks. I do occasionally receive some Blue Copper Marans chicks from these eggs.

This sounds to me like the person has Blue Copper stock that doesn't usually show the copper in their birds. Since that happens she sells them as Blue Marans. Yay or nay?

I think you are right... they THINK they have pure Blue and Black and Splash, but someone in the bunch has copper in their genes and is polluting the colors..

I will be crushed if she's a he. I don't have a name yet, due to being undecided of her sex. I think my light brahma is a boy too, also picked from the pullet bin.lol. I do know she's a Maran due to her very pink legs.

Hi! Welcome to the Marans thread! I believe that your cute little Cuckoo is a male. hide.gif The big white spot on the head is the tell all. Cuckoo's can be sexed by feather markings and colors. The white spot on the head is male. No spot and it is female.
