Hey VIcki my eggs came today whoot!! I took a picture since you will be getting chicks so you can see the egg color. My camera washed them out a little like it always does lol. There is one in there that looks really light but the rest look pretty good. A few are pretty nice!

I hear another chick that just hatched....hopefully its another blue. So far I have two black and two blues....cant tell what the newest one is yet.

I am new to marans and acquired 10 mixed marans from aceschix. I have one beautiful dark blue and one light blue with leakage. The others are black, splash and birchen. Everyone LOVES the dark blue...... she is a beauty and my favorite..... hence why I need more lol.png   Out of the little bunch, there are 4 cockerels. Two blue splash (not a speck of copper showing) and two black birchen with gold leakage. Not sure who will be staying out of those guys....  might look into a black copper cockerel instead of one of these guys.

Proud wife and mother to 4 beautiful children. Also a mama to a redbone coonhound mix, 2 spoiled house cats, few easter eggers, couple barnyard beauties, and a variety of  marans.

From what I could see looking through the clear hatcher door, its lookin like I've got about 16 chickers so far and many more eggs pipped. Bet its gonna be an active night for them! All blue or black copper, and blue and black cuckoos so far. No splash yet. The birchen eggs are pipped but none have hatched so far.

haha...yeah. Sometimes I just go on ebay out of morbid curiosity and sometimes just have to laugh and sometimes....I just get annoyed. What all do you have in for the birchens, like what are they out of and how many? I am glad that others are getting into them. I have 2 splash birchen boys that I really like but they will not be staying here....came out clean legged, and one doesn't carry the wings the way I would like, so I'll keep trying.

I can't wait to find out what else hatches....I turn into a little kid everytime!

I had a toddler and was preggo with #2 at the time. So really scary. I called the police while dh stood armed at the backdoor just in case the guy made it into the house.  The Phx police dept got there in like 3 minutes and chased the guy through our yard and tackled him in the front. They had him out in the police car and he was actually howling like a dog. He was high on something. There was blood all over our back door too from him beating his hands on it and scuff marks from where he kicked it. He sure picked the wrong door lol.  Our back door was a recycled old church door that was solid hardwood and opened out and not in. He could not kick it in, break it or the frame that held it so too bad for him. The police said he had just got out of prison for doing stuff like this before. Lucky us (not), it was totally random, never saw him before in my life. You just never know what is gonna happen...so best to always be prepared.

On a happier note, what time are you going to set your showgirl eggs?

Thanks. I'm not really worried about it, they all know I'm a gun-toting-mama out here, and these bad boys and girl, are locals! Problem is the cops out here don't do their jobs, so even though they know who they are, chances are they won't do anything about it. If the cops out here know you are armed, they tell you to use it! DUH! When seconds count, the cops are just minutes away. In our cases out here, the minutes could be about 45 minutes! We have the Castle Doctrine Law here, so if they enter my home, or try to steal my property, they are mine. Property is insured, so I would not want to kill someone over just some stuff, but let them enter my home, and that tells me they are up to other no goods! If I have to pull the trigger, there will be NO doubt who was in the wrong! Used to be, you had to try to flee from your home if someone entered illegally, not any more.

On the happier note, I've not gotten the SG eggs yet, but hopefully they will be here so I can set by Sunday at least!

I have heard some good things about feeding Calf Manna Performance; anyone else feed this product?? Is it worth the price as far as condition and egg production goes??

I've used it mostly for conditioning for shows, but it does indeed work. I can't tell ya much about egg production tho as that wasn't my main focus. What I've found to be the best so far for my birds is to be current on worming, free of parasites like mites and such, and to have access to free forage, even if I deliver it to their pens.
