Lol they are really laid back except the yellow one. He is pushy with the other regular cuckoo chicks and nice to the silver ones LOL.  He also has a thing for eyelashes, if you sit next to the brooder and look down, he will jump up and try to bite your eyelashes. I was holding him and got him too close to my eye and POP, he got me haha. Little terd!

They all do have feathered shanks. I think 2 have scant or just a few tiny stubbs on the outer toe. The other 3 have good toe feathering.

The yellow and grayish Silver Marans  in the 2nd pic on the far right, reminds me of my Barred Black Tail Buff roo (Cuckoo Baby) when he was a chick. Looks alot like him from the front but not so much from the back. Cuckoo Baby had way lighter markings on his back as a chick.

Tropical Plant Freak with Marans: Bcm,wheaten, golden cuckoo, BBS, blue copper, barred blk tailed buff, blk tailed buff, blue/blk birchen. Lavender, white, buff, and black Orps, Silkies, Key West aka Gypsy chickens, Ameraucanas, Muscovies, Sebastapol Geese, Guineas,Gobblers, Parrots. Currently working on some exciting Key West and Marans projects.

I'm really glad they are feather legged for you. Even more excited for my chickers now! Its so exciting seeing yours, but makes the waiting that much harder haha! Its lookin like I'll get close to 20 or so of them. We made an arrangement that's pretty fantastic, so it ended up being a really good deal!

Good evening ladies!

Cute chickies Lynette! Do you spell your name with a Y or an E?? I hope I haven't been spelling it wrong all this time??

Dodging some minor storms here today, they would look very ominous, then just pass on. Got a wee bit of rain, but that was it. Got the rest of my maters in the ground, and also the Cayenne peppers. My Basil is already coming up! Need to get some garlic planted too.

No chicks here yet for me. Seems all my Silkie hatches start at night though, so I'm hoping. The darned humidity got so bad here within the last week, I hope it didn't do them all in...th.gif Tomorrow is day 21.

I really hope those chicks hatch for you lady! And evening by the way! frow.gif  Work beat the tar out of me today....pretty much everything that could go wrong, did haha...all I can do is laugh. And come home and take a nap....with the baby kitty of course. Which is growing like a weed. I can't believe how big he is now!

Sounds like you are making major progress with your garden. I've done nothing the last two weeks and really need to get back out there!

Tomorrow is my first day taking birds over to the weekly sale....should help to thin out some...then saturday is the exotic sale, where I'll try to take the rest. People eat up baby chicks, so I'll be sending a couple of boxes of my various breeds and should do well!

My cats must've moved their babies, or else something got them. They sure aren't on the front porch any more??

Got the 3 BCM chicks OUT of my house yesterday!! Spent the night in the crate inside the big coop. No worse for the wear this morning. I keep letting in some of the older hens during the day so they get introduced to more and more of the flock. I think it's been too hot for the older gals to worry about picking on them, but Dopey (and she IS!), the Splash pullet seems to be thrilled she is not the low guy on the totem any more, and revels in picking on them. Luckily, they are all pretty quick, and I have hidey holes for them to go to.

Wished I'd had my camera with me yesterday when I took the 4 week Silkies outside for their first round! This huge Lunar moth was ending his life cycle, and was flying back and forth. He had to make a swoop into the X-pen I had for the babies. OMG! Talk about funny and interesting! One of the little guys let out a warning screech and they all hit the ground belly first and FROZE! Looked like 6 dead Silkies, talk about pure instinct taking over! The moth decided he'd had at least one good laugh in his life, and mozied on.  LOL!

It was a pitiful sight to see! Glad they have that natural instinct though. Face down in the grass on their bellies, with wings out to the sides! If I hadn't seen what occured, I'd have freaked out seeing that! gig.gif

awesome! Hope you get some to hatch!

Should have ameraucanas from my uncle hatching on saturday/sunday. I'll feel better about them hatching once I've thinned out the troops haha

I might have to hit you up for a few of them!! I would love to see some blue and eventually, olive eggs here!!  I've about resigned myself to thinking that all of my BCMs and Blues are just going to be egg layers...sigh.
