OK...MARANS QUESTION...

This is probably here somewhere, but there's no way I can sort thru almost 35,000 posts to find it...lol

What are the standard weights/sizes of a Marans?

I have a Banty roo & hen who have what appears to be PERFECT BCM coloring (he even has the leg feathers), but she lays an almost perfectly white egg. Could these be OEG Banty & BCM mixes? Would they make a good project bird to try to develop a Banty version of the BCM...if I can add enuf of the LF version back in to get egg coloring back without losing Banty size?

Ok that is just disgustingly cute!!

Looks really similar to what I hatched of the last day and a half.

I hatched all blue and splash..  olive eggers, ameraucanas and ameraucana X blue andalusian chicks.  The olive eggers (BCM momma) are just so huge fluffy and strong when they hatch.  I love them!  All of the olive eggers are blue with feathered legs and pea combs.  They had a splash ameraucana daddy.  So dang cute I cannot stand it.   I will get some pics tomorrow.  Some are still drying off.

morning Debbi! I way overslept, but am waiting for my eyedrops to work before I start getting ready for the day. After I get a shower I'll get a couple of shots of the hatched shells. They are a nice clear sky blue.

Shot an email off to you tho in the meantime wink.png

ok...here they are. I took the shot in natural daylight, so they are washed out a bit, but they are a nice blue with no green tint at all.

Funny how when they are in the house they look so big. Get them into their outside home, and they look so small! To me anyway! Looks like they will be happy in their new home.

DON'T cull your roos till they are 4-6 months.  You will only get a glimpse of what they will look like in a month or two from now. They change a lot!
