About my sick birds --just got off the phone with a woman who lost a bunchof chicks due to paraylisis, took the bocies to New Bolton Center and the crops were impacted with bedding.
THe vets said with the bedding filling the crop they cannot feed properly and the reaulting malaborption resulted in this symptom of paralysis.
Can I assist in clearing the crop other than giving some grit? THe woman said those with very hard crops were doomed.
ANy suggestions?
can you turn the chick so the head is facing down towards the floor and work the crop so it spits it out?
I did that with a pullet and killed her... I should have left her alone.... The food/stuff will get stuck and then they can't breath or they will inhale it and die.
To throw up on their own might work, too. I picke up a rooster this morning and he spit up on me. With throwing up, aLways a risk of aspiration.
So far so good. THe chicks that had hard crops are now soft and pliable.
I segregated all in trouble to better see progress and feed. Pulled a BO chick from the second brooder; the SS that was having problems was not identifiable. THe 2 OE that had crashed are running full tilt just like the others now. I think I should mark them more permanently.

Could you use the syrup from Soda Club, too? (In case this is not a common item, Soda Club machines carbonate water, and then you can add in various soda syrups.) I have their version of "Coke" here, which is not technically Coca-Cola... think that would work the same way?
I don't know.... I know it is all the acids in the Coke that dissolve stuff. Like the enamel on your teeth
I love coke. Coca cola, not pepsi. It strips paint too. It is the acids. My medicine cabinet needs to be bigger.
Colt smashed his left eye Sunday. Despite my treatments, I needed the vet to look at him today. WHen it rains , it pours.
