Are these books only readable on line or can you down load to say an ipad?
======================
Unless I erred, all the links I share can be downloaded. When you click the tinyurl
and the page comes up, look in the upper right-hand corner. In Google Books, there's

an icon which looks like a wagon wheel. Click on it and several options will come up. One

of them is to download in a PDF.

In Archive.org, , click on the window titled, "View the book". There are at least three ways

to download the book.
Best Regards,
 Karen

thanks that was the step I was missing!  Now have 1 of the 2 downloaded and working on the second :)

Welcome to the thread. Its actually quite a good thing to have green sheen on the birds. That's the color most desired as it is a indicator of other good things you want in the coloring of your fowl. I would try to hunt around locally to see if you can get some ladies near you. The BCMs I've seen from most hatcheries don't have very good color eggs. There are also some people that can ship chicks here on BYC, but would recommend waiting til the heat of the season is over.

OK.  Green sheen is good. I'm happy about that but what do they mean on this website when they seem to brag about no "mossiness"?

I was also wondering at what age a Marans rooster is fully mature, size-wise, colors and filled out?

Thanks much

(Yes beloved Adam, my chickens may bump me off for a worm but I'd never bump you off for Buffy 'n Scruffy)  Mittens 17 1/2 y.o Tortoise-Shell Calli with "tortitude" (never too late to start loving cats). And Hanna-girl, NSDT, best dog ever, resting peacefully since 4/12. We miss you, baby-girl.  "Hooked on Chickens"... and gratitude.

Would someone post some pictures of your BCM hens as they grew?  I have one (about 13 weeks old) who has started growing some copper feathers on 'her' back.  I'll take some pictures tonight, but I'm starting to worry that she might be a he.

Thanks

I took some pictures of my 'girl' last night.  They were having a field day tearing up a frozen zuccinni so I had a really hard time getting a good, clear pict.  Can anyone tell me for sure if this is a male or female?  I don't care about breeding, I just wanted some of those dark brown eggs.

She is a HE no doubt!

As no one mentioned why it is a he--- the brown coloring  far down his back near the tail is only on the boys. He is just starting to put on his coloring.

For me I didn't get beyond that comb and wattles..... the color helps but the red comb and wattle was the DEAD give away.  I see combs at a week some times as day olds I can see the roos.

One seemed more filled then the rest, but air sacs were not really visible. We are just going to give it more time and check again sometime next week.

Like Donna said, hold out until much later.

I am more likely to toss at lockdown UNLESS they are marans, I can't see thru the dark eggs no matter what flashlight I use. Only clear eggs are tossed if they are non-marans. Also,I put in questionable eggs because sometimes they hatch!   I sometimes have a larger egg hatch later than smaller eggs.

My humidity has jumped back up to the 40's. I'll check the eggs as I bought a new flashlight today. We use the flashlights everyday and ,boy, they don't last long. DH needs to take back the lifetime guaranteed flashlight to the store  LL Bean for the second time. WIsh it really would last a lifetime.

Marans I handle differently than the pink or blue eggs as those are VERY easy to see thru. I can often toss by day 10. THough I wait just in case.

Yes, very suspenseful!

My humidity dipped below 40% today..... woot.gif  I set some more eggs so it better get straight ASAP.  I have crackers and rice in there.... also ran the old AC and I think the RH was some lower today fl.gif

Set Blue and Black Coppers and Cuckoos..... one last hatch of Cuckoos..... I set about 90 eggs, most I don't expect much of a hatch or any, it is just a test.

Becky, I set the Exchequers for you!

oh - I thought the other day he said that they were going to get the Marans in the next printing...that we'd get an insert right now (on the Ameracauna thread)

Are both the wheaten and the black coppers included  as inserts?

I am sure you can get both at the website.  Walt said no pictures even in the reprint.  Maybe in 10 years in the NEWer Edition.

I thought he said there was an insert for these books and it will be added to the back of a reprint without pictures.

Yep!

But I wanted the APA SOP, so that I can read and see all the illustrations about the general SOP requirements, rather than breed specific
