So sorry about your migraine. I can certainly relate!

Love the picture of your broody BR hen. Wish Dottie had been able to figure it all out. Her daughter, Dru, is turning out to be super sweet like her mama. She's 14 weeks old tomorrow and next weekend, she and Gideon, who will be 12 weeks then, will go into the main flock.

I may end up selling the little Mille Fleur D'Anver cockerel with Lucy as a pair and Mina with Aubrey as a pair. I hate that because Lucy is super angelic, but I am having no luck rehoming him as a single male. I'd keep the two lavender Coch'Anver pullets and see what hatches from under Aimee in three weeks. She has two of her own and one of Shadow's. Carly was acting broody, but I don't think she's really serious yet.

With the absorbable sutures, did you try some Livestock place like AmericanLivestocksupply, Jeffers, or just google it?

If you can't find any, let me know, I can get some. I get quite a few things sometimes.  The policy on our unit is that if it's on a baby's warmer, and the baby is moved or goes home, everything on the bed gets tossed even if it's unopened.  What a waste of money.  It's all good stuff.  Dumb policy.  But sometimes it helps me.

Thank you, Karen! That's so generous of you. If you come across some catgut suture kits (or any type, really) that they're going to toss, I'd pay you postage for them. I was trying to get them off Amazon, but they changed their items and there were no singles when I went to order them. I have had gift cards at different times so they would be free to me, basically, but had to spend the gift card money on other things we needed.

I know it wasn't the surgery--that went very well. In fact, Angus's crop is feeling okay, much reduced and pliable, but it's become quite apparent that was not the main issue, but a side issue, stemming from whatever was happening in his little body already. He's guzzling water like he's trying to drown himself. Had to take it away from him.

ETA: Tonight, Angus isn't long for this world. He isn't pooping at all. No idea what is the real issue, but obviously, we can't fix it.  I doubt he'll live until morning. He isn't drinking at all now, just laying down with eyes closed.

Carly and Aimee are in the broody cage-again, I have co-broodies. Aimee has four eggs and Carly has two (she's smaller). Dusty is on the nest, but has 0 eggs.

Removed Panda's egg from Nugget's nest. She has only Caroline's, which seems to be not quite far enough along for this stage but very much growing, and Ellie's, which is near impossible to see into, though there is something in it.

I'm going to bed early because I'm just so tired from today.

Okay, I'll be working the beginning of the week.  You would think they could at least donate the stuff to a poor country!

Thanks Kathy,  graduation was very loud. I had an aisle seat in the back row just in case I were to toss my cookies. We left as soon as my DIL and sister got their diplomas. Went to bed after I got home and put the chickens to bed.

Thanks, Laura. Angus died about 2:30 a.m. He was so un-D'Anver like in personality, such a sweet little man.

Will have to decide what to do about that group now. I have the one porcelain rooster left, Aubrey, who is gorgeous and a good daddy, but he is typical D'Anver male through and through, not friendly at all, though his threats are laughable at his size. You know me, I love my friendly roosters and after having Angus, it makes Aubrey's cantankerous temperament even more irritating.

Cyn, that's too bad. I wonder if maybe he had some kind of heart defect?

I had to go to the local swap meet today. They are only here once a month. I really did not want to but I took in my BA rooster and one of his girls and gave them away. At least now I can just concetrate on one coop. Roy, the NH roo is going to be so happy to have more girls.

We went ahead and put Mina & Lucy, the two Mille fleur D'Anvers, and Opal and Misty, the Coch'Anvers, into the bantam coop today. Figured it would give Gideon and Dru time to bond further before they go into the main flock. Lucy, Opal and Misty were raised by Penny so they immediately recognized her and wanted to "talk", but Penny told them she was finished being a mama.

The little cockerel crowed twice (he's 10 weeks) when he saw the new little pullets, LOL. When he did, Aubrey hit him full force in the face. He wasn't having that show of manliness, period!

I had a Mille Fleur D'Uccle pair, they were cute, but the male was like yours, the second I turned my back, he would fling himself into my legs.  Just couldn't get him to stop.
