Well the search is on today...as soon as everyone is safely tucked in the chicken compound. I must find my beadwork...I will do it again if need be but I do jot think Suede will wait 8 months for me to bead him again. Dammmmmm I must find it.

I have this overwhelming urge to drive to Georgia .... hug Suede for me Cyn. Talk to you later.

Life shouldn't be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty, well-preserved body. but rather, to skid in sideways, totally worn out and exhausted while shouting loudly "WOW! What a ride!"

We got a touch of rain last night, but more lightning and thunder than anything, and had to deal with a petrified dog. Tom finally put her leash on and tied her to the woodstove to keep her from going nuts and peeing all over the house. He also slept on the couch near her to calm her down. Poor old dog, can't hear fireworks, but she can feel the booming vibrations in the house.

I have a feral Icelandic cockerel. I can not keep him penned - he always gets out. He has escaped from a pen that is covered in netting each time I caught him (twice). He sleeps in the umbrella tree by the front door. I love hearing the kazoo noise he crows.

I think the Silver Laced Wyandottes look so striking on the green grass.

Kathy those silver laced are beautiful.  I may just have to have a few next yr.   Oh boy, I already have decided on a few favaroles and  ? legbars,( if the price comes down), dellies and NH.  It sounds like more building or less desires one.  Probably less on the desire end.   LOL

Cetawin, I sure hope you find that bead work.  I know how much Suede means to you.  He is a love and fathered some of my hens inclucing the first I had.

Cyn, again I am so sorry, our intuition is usually right.  May he go with a proud crow and no painful time.    Gloria Jean

Just told Wynette this in an email but posting here to update you guys who love my Suede:

He's doing a weird snaking motion with his neck, like I've seen when they have an impacted crop that is getting up into the throat, or sour crop, or something stuck in the throat, but he has none of that. Crop feels normal, with food, but not hard, or bloaty, gassy or doughy. He even allowed us to open his beak without prying (what chicken allows that?? But, that's our guy) to look down the throat and there's nothing in his throat. He has lost weight, but then again, he's been molting, which is what usually happens. He was wormed within the last month, so scratch that as an issue. He was falling asleep by noon, off and on. I think his systems are just shutting down so could be his airway feels tight to him, which would explain the side-to-side snaking motion he's doing, but he's not really open mouth breathing and his comb color isn't really off, either, though that could change quickly.

I FOUND IT!  Of all places...on top of the stripping room in my barn.  Some IDIOTS who shall remain nameless placed four totes up there and thank goodness had the common sense to tape the lids shut or ever rat in the County would have been eating my pelts and my Suede.  For those of you who have not seen it...this is the beaded Suede that I took a tad over 8 months to bead.....I have to go back and look at my records for an exact count but there are at least 25,000 beads on him....

For size reference...this is the beadwork on the whole deer hide before he was cut out

All that remains is the beading around the edges, punch holes around it and lace it with sinew to the hoop for the shield and then add Suede's molted sickle feathers, plus his splash son, Thor's sickle feather and beads to the sides.

I also got this brillant idea last night...my little d'Anver rooster I acquired (well emotionally stole from Cynthia and later physically took), Rufus, is such the Little Man as most d'Anvers are...so I decided I wanted to make him a vest...for the stylish, discriminating rooster with little man syndrome  hahahahahaha  here is the pattern and the picture of the prototype which has been cut out but not modified yet...Pics of course will follows after Rufus is wearing his "Little Man Vest"...I think I will copyright that name LMAO

The pattern is for a vest for a stuffed chicken toy  hahahaha
