Just like a bad penny.......I'M BAAAACK!!!! gig.gifI spent two weeks at my mother's place in Tacoma, WA. helping her to recover from open heart surgery that she had back on April 16th. She's doing fair to midland, but her heart is still beating too fast. It will be a long row to hoe, and I may yet have to return to lend a hand and emotional support, but I still hold out hope that all will turn out well. My mom: She's a real fighter! wink.png

Anyhow, missed y'all very much. Sure has been quiet around here by the looks of things. Hope every "mom" had a great mother's day. I'm still in "getting caught up" mode here. And if anyone ever tries to tell ya that your chickens don't miss you when you're gone, you need point no further than my flock as an example that the DO! I no sooner parked my car in the driveway on Tuesday after a 5 hour drive home, than I was swarmed by mine! What a welcome home! Chickens EVERYWHERE!!!! gig.giflove.gif

Welcome home!!!!! Serrin  I know what its like to care for parents .  Its an emotional roller coaster that tires out your very soul.

I am having trouble finding some big part English not full English Buff orpington Eggs for sale.  I like a little English and American mixed.  The English are beautiful but not as good a layer .The last American have not been as nice as I was use to seeing. I do not know what is happening to them. They seem less thrifty.  They break legs and do not fight disease as well.  Has anyone else noted it?

Serrin welcome back and yes been a little slow on BTC . Good weather and everyones doing the spring thing.

Went to barn the other night to get a tool. And all the Dels are roosting on the muck tub which has DE and dirt in it for dust bath.

Sorry but had flash off and night light not very bright. It looks like a Hen party. LOL

Well Lord have mercy must be some folks are lost.  This thread has been deader than a door nail.

Welcome back Serrin, sorry about your mom and hope she improves quickly.

finn - looks like a bunch in this neck of the woods around a craps shoot at the curb.  At least in the old neighborhood.

Looks like my Nick, my avatar rooster, is on his way to that big coop in the sky.  He's my original rooster and it's hard. He's got to be over 5 years old and can hardly walk.  I've separated him cuz George the rooster I hatched from Speckledhens eggs keep beating him up.  Nick still has quite a bit of fight in him though.  I never did keep one of his sons and I'm regretting it.  You just never expect these days to come.

Finn is right about the spring thing.  There is never enough time to get the garden in  and spring cleaning.  I've been working to get the back garden fenced in to keep the chickens out and fix the beds they'd dusted themselves.  I'll be replacing a lot of soil.

I bought some pepper plants and like a fool left them in the wagon while I did other chores and when I went to get them they'd been eaten.  $3 down the chicken hole.  They follow the wagon knowing I keep the scratch can in there.  Then jump up on it when my back is turned.  Any thing in there is fair game to them.

Well if things go the way they have I'll be posting here in a month.  Til then take care,

Some much for Dels dominating the world.  sad.png
