There is no doubt about that, but don't you need MORAL support ??? .

I reread the instructions last night before I went to bed and still haven't plugged it in.  If I get the nerve I may plug it in before I go to work but then I might be anxious all day until I get home.  You are right it is a BIG life-changing event.

I hear you!

I unwrapped mine and stared at it for a few days before putting it on.  Such a thing of beauty! bow.gif

Problem is it has been on ever since, and that can really get you in trouble. Fortunately it has lots of other peoples eggs in it and a bunch of huge goose eggs.

I have to say though it is still VERY dangerous and I have 3 sets of BLUE (not green) wheaten ameraucana eggs, some olive eggers, and a dozen Auburn Javas which are STUNNING and were thought to have been extinct.

Anywho, I will probably just keep some of the wheaties but will have the other chicks available (assuming they hatch) if anyone is interested..........

Auburn Javas  !!!   Wow where did you find such a treasure ?  Are you going to Norco meet-up to sell you wares.  My new BRLR NN rooster is very shy around me.  I sure wish I knew how to make him my friend and again thank you for this beautiful boy.

Say what you mean, mean what you say, but do not say it meanly.

The Auburn Javas came from a BYCer.

I had seen pics of them them elsewhere, and OMG they are SOO beautiful I had to have some, even if it was just to hatch so for a short time.

They were thought to have been extinct until one turned up in a java flock. That makes them even cooler.

This is what I read on line:

http://www.behlfarm.com/blogengine.net/page/Auburn-Java-Chickens.aspx

Historical evidence indicates that the Auburn Javas were extinct by the 1870s, which probably explains some of the varying accounts of this variety.  Keep in mind that the first admissions to the Standard of Perfection was in 1874.   However the recessive trait for Auburn remained dormant in the Black Javas.  On Sept. 25, 2003 a female Java chick, "Mini-Wee", with an Auburn head and Black body hatched at MSI.  The Auburn color was expressed again in March of 2004 when a cockerel, "Mork", emerged with Auburn highlights in its wings and body.  Mini-Wee and Mork were mated to produce more Auburns.  In addition more Auburns continued to be hatched randomly from the Garfield Farm Black Javas.
