I AM looking to re-home a couple of desert tortoises. They have been in the family for 40 years.
I've had them up here in Julian for about 4-5 years. Because of the cooler temps I bring them
in the garage (where I have a house with it's own thermostat) once temps start dropping in the afternoon.
They really need to be in a warmer climate. They hibernate from Nov. to April so they should be coming
out of hibernation soon.
They need a pen that they can't tunnel out of or go over (Yes,they can go over! One sits in the corner and the other uses him as a step stool to go over the top!!) They eat a variety of fresh greens, fruits and vegetables. Their house would go with them. They require it in order to burn off the evening humidity, even a little humidity will cause upper respiratory issues.
I'd love to find someone that will see them through the next 40 years!
