San Diego Chicken meetup and Chat thread - Page 551

Thank you for all your kind thoughts.  He had been batteling liver cancer for over 1 1/2 years, and I know he is at peace now.  I am going to be a comfort for my Grandma as she adjusts, and to help her for a week.  I am the stop gap between the funeral and my cousin going to spend the summer with her.

i cant believe i missed the pot luck! i recently got a chicken. black copper maran (mary) and her boyfriend i call luke and they lay double yolkers aevery other day.. which defeats the purpose of why i got the pair because from what i hear twins are not very likely to hatch :( 

sooooo since i found out i got myself a black ausralorp and a white leghorn and they lay almost every day.

but since i couldnt wait that long to get chicks.......... i got 5 buff opringtons 2 turkey poults 1 EE and a rhode island red. did i mention the two peking ducks that also lay every single day?! 

im starting to feel a bit obsessive! its so easy to just fall in love with these feathered guys

sigh....

ps: anyone want to trade me my black copper maran double yolk queen??? :P

I have a wheaten maran hen who lays huge single yolk eggs, and could include some assorted chicks as well.

I have been wanting a double yolk queen FOREVER (well for a year or 2)

I met Cari today. It'll be fun to meet more of the local group.

Did you guys tell him to post this, just so I don't feel like I'm the most ridiculous chicken hoarder up here?  A newbie that's collecting at a faster rate than me.  I have to go and tell my husband.  My marriage is saved.

If you're already into ducks, you'd better run, Vick - run quickly - or you'll end up like Cari - two bathtubs, no baths.  Ever.  And the extra tub is outside on the porch with fish in it.
