Yes, that would be good. Whoever gets there first can secure some tables for us.

I'm thinking June 2nd at Collier's Park in Ramona. It's a nice park, we've done it there before. What I like about it is that it already has tables in the shade, bathrooms, and a playground for the kids.

That would be awesome then, don't you think? I don't think they'd object to having more chickens lovers show up, do you?

ETA: I contacted the show organizer and am waiting to hear back. I'll let you know what I hear and then we can make a decision based on that.

I was wondering about the Serama show; I'd forgotten when it was. We had a meetup at Collier Park before during a Serama show, and it was a lot of fun - I learned quite a bit, and won several of the raffle prizes! If they don't object, it just sounds like more fun to me.

Chaili - do you have any chicks yet?

Anyone know what snake this is. Hoping baby gopher and not rattler.

Also anyone got good pics of the eclipse? My dd got some cool ones, I think because it was so cloudy. Will post some when they are downloaded.

Looks like a gopher snake to me. It's definitely a constrictor as you can see by its head. All the poisonous snakes in the US, except coral snakes, are pit vipers and have a heart-shaped head.

Thanks Desertdarlene, I was hoping you would say that.

It has been a day for wildlife.. Something was bothering the chickens big time this afternoon. Only caught a glimpse of it, and it was not small. It was black and brown, so probably coyote, but could also be a bobcat. We have both here.

Anyone interested in cream legbar pairs or swedish flower hen chicks??? (just PM)

MEET UP INFORMATION - June 2nd , from the time the roosters crow until the cows come home!! The Serama show starts at 9:30, and will probably go until 3pm, 100 entrants expected! http://www.co.san-diego.ca.us/parks/picnic/collier.html

Our very own SunnyCalifornia (Chaili) is in charge of the Serama show and has welcomed us with open arms!! We can set up near their event but make sure that we have a clear division between us & our birds and theirs. As All-American-Chick said, the local Ramona Wranglers 4H group will be BBqing burgers and hot dogs for lunch with the money raised going to the 4-H club. Maybe we could bring a desert and snacks to share if you want. There will be a raffle and silent auction to benefit the Serama Club. It would be a nice gesture for those of us that are able to donate something. Please contact Chaili directly at wildwestseramas@gmail.com and let her know that you have something to donate.

In addition Chaili said "We have some special guest speakers coming from Ohio and Florida to give demonstrations and lectures, people flying in from Washington just to see the event, it will be chicken, chicken, chicken from sun up to sun down." Sounds like a lot of fun!!

I still have name tags from the last meet up. Bring a folding chair just in case we need it. Better to be prepared. All birds should have a cage or something to contain them in during the event.

The Serama Club will be there bright and early to secure their spots. Can we get a volunteer to get there early for our group and stake out a nice shady spot for us?

This is going to be an amazing meet up folks!! If you want to let folks know what birds or eggs you're bringing just add it to the thread. I'll edit the announcement and try to keep a running list of things.

Let's get this party go'in!! woot.gifwoot.gif
