Turkeys are wonderful - I so regret selling my old Tom a couple of years ago - I really miss him sweet old man that he was.  I recommend them as pets, really fun and pretty in the yard too.  One thing though - I think if they have a peen it should be turkey only - bad things can happend if turkeys and chickens are confined together.  Free ranging is ok.

I candled my incubator eggs last night... hmm.png

1 of 2 remaining Marans eggs is developing.

5 of 14 Blue Isbar eggs are developing. (A couple more are still a maybe.)

2 of 12 Wheaten Am eggs are developing. (These were shipped cross-country, so not a huge surprise.)

Fingers crossed that all of the developing eggs hatch, and that there's at least a pair of Isbars!

Well, I went to the lake today and looked everywhere and did not see the two dumped ducklings. They're pretty bright, so they wouldn't be hard to miss. I will be there tomorrow and see if they show up. I told Ruben, one of the workers at the lake, about them, yesterday, and perhaps he got someone to get them. The workers there were busy with something else this morning, so I didn't get a chance to ask them today.

Hi - If you are just looking to rehome her to a loving home and she is 100% healthy she'd be welcome in my flock.  Just send me an e-mail if you still need a home for her.

Take care,

Laurel

No problems at all! I've been wanting a blue egger for a while & just got an ameracauna chick, which puts me at 7 chickens. My coop only holds 6. My other girls are an assortment, the only two of a kind I have are the australorps. Louise's sister Thelma is not as friendly, although she's not bad at all. But she rules the roost of my little flock, so I think it's best she stays, rather than upset the pecking order. Any interest?

Just an ole' cowgirl who loves all her animals!  4 Lippitt Morgans, 1 QH,  1 mustang, 1 burro, 3 cats, 2 steers, 5 dogs,  LOTS of chickens - Standards, Bantams & Seramas, 1 Guinea, 15 ducks and 3 pet turkeys who follow me to feed the horses!

Poor little ones!  I work with SPCA and a about a month ago they brought me a little pekin duck that someone dumped behind an apartment building that had a small creek.  I figured it was an easter duckling that out grew it cuteness.  I named her ( I really don't know it's sex) Puddles!  She's very sweet and I have since rehomed her to a loving family who had a lonely duck.   SInce then the SPCA had brought me a young turkey someone dumped and a cute hen seized from someone's apartment!  They're staying with me forever!

Bottom line - some people just need to be shot!!  I hope these little guys make it but given they are white they may not.
