Attach Chicken- Best of luck to you.

Patman- You can tell the button bucks from the does a lot of the time by the shape of their head. The button bucks look a little "flatter" on top of their head.

I shot a button buck one time, however, and I sure could have sworn it was a doe. I was real surprised when I walked up and it was a button buck.

The 286 lb buck that I shot had one antler completely broken off, just a brow tine on that side. The other antler had about 1/2 of it missing and some of the remaining tines broke. He had one ear all ripped up (old injury). I assumed it was from fighting. HOWEVER..... after skinning him I am positive he had been hit by a car. He had bad bruising all across one hip and down one leg. It was obvious he had been hit hard by something larger than another antler. My neighbor thinks he is the deer that used to hang out in the road to the west of her place. I wish I had gotten to him before a vehicle did. He had more bruising than the deer that my hubby hit with my pickup!

It would be a lot easier if they would stop coming in by themselves. Both times they were alone. Even if I did let them go the hunters on the land next to ours would of shot them. Better in my freezer than theirs. Super tender meat this year for sure.

Went out bother Sat and Sunday...Seen about 25+ squirrels

and thats it no deer or anything

I know theres deer there.. Scraps, rubs, tracks, scat, you name it it's there. Next weekend nothing is safe if it comes by me be it buck or doe. I was hoping to get a does so I could practice my tax on her. Smaller buck would equal a skull mount

Good morning! I took the week off to hunt (and cook

). I had a wonderful hunt this morning, didn't bring one in, but had very close encounters that had my blood pumping!

Attack Chicken- Squirrels! Don't they just drive you crazy sometimes? You hear something in the woods behind you, start to get all pumped up and then figure out it's a squirrel. Little rascals. I swear they can sometimes sound just like a turkey, too. I think they practice immitating turkeys.

sheaviance- Cooking. Yes, that is the spare time activity for this week. My husbands nephew has been here hunting this week. He has had 4 or 5 near shot opportunities between 10 and 25 yards, but there has always been branches or brush in the way. Sometimes is good just to be able to see one that close.

I think I might be doing quite a bit of squirrel hunting after deer. To bad those suckers are hard to skin! I just hope over Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday I see a deer. I've spent enough hours up in the stand and getting wind burn on my face, so I deserve to atleast see something atleast!

I had two squirrels having a battle royal 5 feet from me in my tree stand the other night.

Just when you get tired of looking behind you every time you here those buggers that is when the deer comes. They are good at conditioning us.
