There's nothing wrong with the MOAC stances. They vary slightly but the birds bred to their ideal are certainly APA showable. It is slight differences in philosophy and minor hallmarks. Nothing to get worked up about.
The founder of the MOAC started out in Marans with pure French Marans which eggs came from France. the MCC started out with Marans which were American or Canadian. Just a difference of minor hallmarks, that's all.

Karen, Who brought Marans here from Canada in the beginning. I have never heard this one. Folks do not have to join either group to show their Marans.

All the info on who brought which Marans down from Canada is on the old Yahoo group namb ( north American Marans breeders) group.

Ok I just checked and the namb is still there. All the info is between 2000 thru 2002. After that they kinda fell apart and moved other places. But those years are a treasure trove of early Marans history. The address has changed too. Here ya go:
