Gorgeous! I got Marans this color by crossing my Blue-tailed-buff and wheatens.

Pretty hen!

Do you plan on outcrossing to Gold Laced birds, to improve lacing, to get them looking like they should?

That would be a fun project!

Actually they are the equivalent to splash in the blue orps.  So breeding to Gold Laced would produce Blue Laced Gold.  If you bred to a Blue Laced Gold you could produce more of this color or bred them to each other (same prenciple applies as in the Splash) smile.png

Right, I figured as much. Outcrossing to Gold Laced will produce Blue Laced Golds, breed them together and you'll get more Splash Laced Golds. I believe Mark is referring to them as White Laced Golds.

Either way outcrossing to GL will greatly improve the lacing. Yes you'll have to then wait another generation to get more Splash Laced birds but you can cull for the best Blue laced birds in order to produce even better Splash Laced birds in the next generation.

It's a very tempting project indeed... LOL. I wish I had more space!
