The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread - Page 753

I think Mauve is gorgeous. I definitely plan to work on a LF Mauve Orp as well as the Chocs.

The color doesn't look a lot like Platinum to me, it seems "warmer" than Platinum, if that makes any sense. I see Platinum as a cold, steely gray color.

I want to figure out another name for the color Mauve for the birds produced here in the US, I don't really feel like calling them mauve is an accurate representation of what the birds look like.

Thanks... I just saw the hen in the pic, and I believe what we are seeing is a Chocolate laced Platinum Blue phenotype(as its not realy platinum but looks like it on the feathers where choc and blue are mixed)

OK, I am in the picture mode lol.png  While I was snapping pics of the babies I thought this one was cute of the Jubilees.  Kinda looks like a 'mirror image'.

Hey Jeremy that Mauve Hen looks alot like your "Platinumb Blue" sumatra boy.. do you have updated pics of him? I was right all along... your boy and that Mauve hen have outer lacing in their background, remember that Blue has a Hard time Diluting this faint laced birds(not as dark laced as true andalusian blues) so that fait lacing is left untouched by Blue so here comes choc(in the case of Mauve) and Dun(in the case of your boy) and dilutes it to a chocolate color... and we have Chocolate Lace Mauve/Platinum blue, which look very similar to me...

Yes, why?

My own Platinum Sumatra male is very steel gray colored, too. He looks very different from Mauve.
