Thank you. I will post pics tonight. I'd only seen one picture of a Gold Laced chick. Wasn't really sure what they looked like until I opened the box LOL !

Last night some hadn't figured out how to drink, but some were pecking at the prisms of my diamond ring. That got me thinking that they liked shiny objects. I put a strand of pearls in their water and several ran over and started pecking at the reflection. My husband laughed and said those had to be the girls attracted to the bling!

Today they have learned to RUN, and scratch, and eat, and drink...Some are even showing some quills on the tips of their wings. They are either full of energy or passed out sleeping.

Should I be keeping track of which ones are eating and drinking to make sure that they all have learned? I'm a nervous nelly.

I always check wing ,tail ,body ,and vent last is hard but the rest you can do.

Thank you. I did dip their beak as soon as they were placed in the brooder. Once I put something shiny in the water they learned quickly. I weighed and banded each one for reference, but, newbie here, put the zip ties too loose, and 6 lost their bands. At that point it was difficult to tell if they were all drinking. I weighed them all last night and all but one gained weight. My husband helped band the 6 that had lost their bands, so today I will keep a watchful eye on them. Based on their activity level, interest in food/water, and curiosity, I'd say they weren't too stressed from the ride home and are adjusting quite well. I will post pictures.

I'd like to introduce my little fluffy butt Gold Laced Orp babies. The color is awful since the red heat lamp was on while taking pictures. Tomorrow I will take individual pictures out of the heat lamp for better color. I hope to use these as reference. I hope you enjoy the pictures. In the pictures they are two days old.

Here a picture of black bantams from Roger Clarke line in the UK.  The rooster does carry the choc gene.  These birds will help create my 4th line of chocs and will help anyone with their color.

Thanks Marc!  These pictures really do not do them justice.  I had a photographer came out to the farm last Sunday to re-take all of my birds pictures.  The ones I have so far are done my me on a point and shoot camera.  She brought out her SLR camera and equipment and got some nice pictures with the correct lighting.  She took over 1200 pictures and when she told me it would be 2 weeks before she got the CD back to me.... I was like - I need some pics now.  LOL.
