I just hatched another batch. My others look twice the size being a week older!

The pic of that single chick is one of the zombies I brought back from the dead

Isn't it cute? That one is very curious and always comes to look when I open the hutch. (PLEASE don't be a roo!

) Another one hides when I open the door. The last one hangs with mom and keeps a wary eye on me

Is anyone taking bets on M/F? If they are like mine, I'm going to have to say 1M/2F. And you know which one I'm talking about. Sorry.

But take heart, I am often wrong on my guesses.

Just wait, those boys, oyyy. Had one use me for a landing pad this morning. I have to lean into the 4x4 cage to clean it. He flew up to my back, turned around and flew back in.

Yesterday he flew out and my Schnauzer caught him and returned him. Guess the little one didn't want to get mouthed by a dog again. Maybe he's learned his lesson, for a while anyway.

I could start telling which were M/F on mine this time at 2 weeks. So maybe towards the weekend you'll start seeing some differences. And know the uncomfortable truth. I do know that 1 quail in freezer camp just isn't going to work. Not even for a snack. So you may just have to keep him and change everyone around or something.

I may have to section off part of then pen anyway regardless of my roo situation. Momma quail has NOT MELLOWED at all. While cleaning the hutch, she jumped out and tried to attack Keiko again. Good thing she is quick

The weird thing was Cricket, our little English white hopped in to the hutch and mom didn't care one bit. Cricket checked out the babies, the babies checked out her and mom was fine with it. Poor Keiko walks by OUTSIDE the hutch and mom loses her fluffy little mind!

I do have plenty of space to work with but I didn't want to have extra water and food bowls to clean once the babies were full grown.
