Kankakee IL. Bird & Animal Swap 2008 dates 9/7 & 10/5

I think I am going to go. Hubby is out of town so it's a perfect time to bring home a new friend or two:) Seriously I am just looking to get two good egg layers, preferably on the younger side so they can bond with kids, ok maybe bond is to strong a word-tolerate is better lol Is it worth it for us to go? It's a little over an hour ride. The feed store has chicks, something with brown in the name, I just ran in to get dog food and had to rush home to get dd from school. If it will be a fun time for the kids 5 and 3 we'll go but if not then I'll stop back in the feed store and look into those. Any tips? What time is it open to/from?

In June I had Wife, 15 month old, 5 and 6 year old(now 5 and 7). they all loved it.

We got there at 6:30.

This time I will have the 7 and 5 year olds as well as an 11 yr old niece. We will leave at 4:30 to be there at 6. It is a 90 min drive.

Do we need anything. No. Is it about going, seeing the animals... yes.(and we have 20+ chickens, 5 ducks, 2 pigs, 2 pygmy goats and 5 boer goats, so we have plenty of animals to see.)

It is a good time. Even if we didn't get anything(doubtful) it would still be about daddy and the girls going to it. My girls would revolt if we didn't go...

I would get there early if buying anything. Good stuff goes quick...

Thinking about going. Have to convince the rest of the crew to get up that early on their day off! DH doesn't want to buy anything else, so not sure if we'll make it. I, for one, would love to go just to look around. I didn't know if it would be worth it, but everyone's comments are convincing me. I would be bringing DH, DS, 12, DD,10, and DD7. Some of them are not morning people;)
