One of the BR's sat on the arm of my chair in the run this evening. She was very serious, telling me a long sad tale OR maybe I misunderstood and she was telling me that she laid the small, pale brown egg I found with the blue EE egg. I wish I had paid more attention during Chicken Talk 101

Well, that lil girl has talked to me every day since I posted this and yesterday I saw her lay an egg that matched the others that I was unsure of...cute lil cream colored egg. So I guess she was telling me she laid her first egg!

I am constantly carrying on a conversation with my ladies. Two of my girls have a whole lot to say in return! Miss Katie seems to laugh at me - "Awwa Awwa Awwa!" Maggy May is a yeller - "Rrrrrawwwwwwh! Rrrrrawwwwwwwwh!". Now my newest pullet, Beatrice, chatters to me while I work. Then she proudly declares to the entire world that she has laid an egg. Just love those girls!!!!

Every time I come near the coop, my faverolle roo is on guard and alerts everyone. Sometimes when he doesnt catch me, i'll make the alert sound instead and he will just have a fit! He gets so annoyed with me when I mock him, head turned , open mouth tongue thing, one eyed look. My black silkie roo is still the best gossiper!

The best thing is getting the crow started!

My birds are like the plant in Little Shop of Horrors,


"FEED ME SEYMOUR!!!!!!!!!!!"

And they cackle hysterically and follow me around (threating to trip me) until they get their treats.
