how much would pet quality Silkies cost?

Around here I can sell a day old pet quality chick, missing a toe, etc, for $5 a chick. Older chicks go for around $8. It depends where you are located and how many people in the area are trying to get rid of pq silkies. I recently just hatched a pq chick from hatching eggs from another breeder, hatched with a single comb, and I have somebody comming friday to pick it up for $5. I also make sure to list what is wrong with the bird, so the people know that the bird is pet quality.

This time of year at our local small animal auction you'd be lucky to get a dollar for them.

oh wow! I've spent a lot of money on those chickens!

about $20 a leghorn pullet over here! I'm shocked xD

I just bought three little hens that are about 3 months old for $5 a piece. He was selling the roos for I think $3?

If you are buying at the ohio national, you will likely be pay more more than $5 a chicken. You might luck out and find a breeder with some chicks, but you have to understand these people are trying to represent the stock they have. I didn't take any birds with obvious DQ's to sell at the spring shows,.. and I was selling 6 week olds for $15, which was lower than the other breeders who were around $20.
