looking for trout indian runner breeders,

I have looked and called around, but not many people have them.

There doesn't seem to be many people with Trouts. There are a couple of people that bought the remainder of the Holderread stock of Trouts. They can probably put you in touch with them if you email them for their contact information. I know there is another member here that is starting to breed Trouts (Lisette, screen name Senna95). I have a few as well and hope to set some up next year for breeding. You might try breeders that have Greys as well because lots of Runners carry light phase, which creates Trout. Holderread's sent me some of the last of their Grey Runners and I have one pen in particular that is producing the occasional Trout (wild type plus light phase, li/li). I am planning to separate those into a new breeding group and hopefully offer Trouts next year.
 
Trout is a awesome color pattern, we have our adult pair in a community pen right now with last years welsh harlequins. They are such striking birds next to the wh's but I have found all the trouts I've had and seen from Holderreads and other breeders to be overly large, and not "ideal" to the Runner standard. They are just chunkier than most whites or blacks or fawn and whites. Nothing wrong with their type otherwise, stand very upright, and lay wonderfully! I had hoped to hatch some eggs this spring, but my hen started molting before I could get any, and then the drake was molting when the hen was through...ah...the life of breeding birds! I am getting another hen from the same breeder this week, so I will set up the breeding pen this week and hopefully have some eggs to incubate this fall.
 
I have trouts..... My husband calls them "gringos" This is my first year with them, but I should have some available next spring.

As far as them being a little chunkier then the whites: yes, it's true. But that gives us something to work towards..... besides, their beautiful colors make up for it.

Yeah, it's a weird Runner phenomenon. Certain colors are bigger or smaller than others, often regardless of how the bird was bred. My Trouts have been quite a bit bigger than their Grey parents and full siblings. It is weird.
 
I suppose that depends on the quality, and on supply and demand. I've got some extra, really nice grey drakes, and can't even GIVE them away!
 
I totally fnd the same problem! I am looking for some bau-gelb for next spring. NOTHING!

I'm getting pretty frusterated! anyone have anyclues where I could find two? Preferably under a week old and sexed... but I'll work with what I can find!
