I hatched these guys in an incubator. They were born June 29th. They are almost 9 weeks old. We have never had peacocks before but are so super excited. We are REALLY hoping for at least one male.... of course, right?

We bought the fertile eggs from a woman who had a solid white peacock, and 2 India Blue hens. So they are cross breed. Does the white feather on their wings stay white? Will they mostly display the blue and green colors?

I have read there are several ways to sex them. None of which I fully understand. Any advise would be WONDERFUL! Also, they BOTH have started getting their beautiful green colors on the back and neck.... but very little. One does seem a slight bit bigger also.

Do both peahens and peacocks get green on the back of the neck?

Thanks!!

This is "Twilight"

This is the smaller one "Tootles" (its hard to see actual size difference by the way he/she is being held)

"Tootles" (There is much less green than Twilight)

And YES..... My kids did name them. lol

Thanks again! Please help tell me if they are male or female......

first not cross breeds....just blues split white. If you breed a black poodle with a white poodle not cross breed ,same with india blue peafowl. Spalding are the cross breed.

Twilight is a girl. tootles i need better pic of the back ,but best i can see female.

Thanks for the education. lol.

SHOOT! Ok, I will post a better pic of the back. When do males start the color change to greens and blues?

Thank you again....

Grrr!!! Aw darn!

I was really hoping for a male, but I guess I'll have to keep trying. These guys are so fun. I also have the white baby peacock who is about 7 weeks old. I know it will take much more time to sex that one. I just hope its a male!

Thanks......... and I will post more pics in a week or two.

Hopefully they start looking male then. lol

Do you mind telling me what you had to pay for your DNA test? I am not even sure if there is a vet around here that would perform that.

Thanks
