Sumatra Thread! - Page 102

thanks, they've named her Boots, she's 16 weeks 3 days.  I took lots of pics of her, but because we were in the pen, and it was cloudy, lots of them are just so dark... but she has incredible purple, blue and green iridescent coloring on her feathers.  I noticed the yellow bottom of the foot when I was reviewing the photos, when I do get back over to visit again, my friends will set up a "photo pen" so I can get individual shots out in the light.

I got a box of 26 chicks as a rescue, they were mis-shipped and rather than let them die... I took them and rehomed all but 9.  The folks who own Boots took 6 of the chicks, built an awesome "covered wagon" coop and they are all thriving... I love a happy ending big_smile.png

I did not know that. Interesting

I'm always shocked how people take something typed on a forum so personally :) If I say it here I have done it. No Bull poop from me. I'm not arguing, I'm stating what I see in MY flock of 10 years.I'm NOT P.C. If that offends please just block me :)

We have hatched out black sexlinks from a RIR x BR that look just like this, they have the dark faces and everything. From the same black sexlink cross, you can get the solid black birds like the one pictured above, to black rear-ended birds with mostly red on the front end. I agree though, looks like a black sexlink/Java/Jersey Giant type to me...

thanks Troyer and Stonykill! i bred him to two black hens and all the youngsters are turning out to be duns. I really like this guys colors and type(he isnt relaxed in the photo) but he only has single spurs and his face is obviously wayy to light, so im looking for good hens from lines with very dark faces and multiple spurs
