Broad breasted turkeys have been selectively bred to lay year round so that the turkey meat industry does not have to be seasonal like it was years ago.But they are BBs and I’ve heard that BB usually lay sooner than heritage turkeys.

I think 7 months old is what I readWe have one lone turkey in with our flock of hens (+1 rooster). We got several of the hens plus turkey girl from a friend who got them all as chicks at easter, then lost interest. Wondering if/when the turkey will lay eggs like the hens do. I'm sure she will...just wondering what age they start. Thanks!!
There are many reports of BBW hens starting to lay at 5 months old.I think 7 months old is what I read
All turkeys are the same breed (Turkey) and the different varieties can breed with each other. The caveat is that broad breasted turkeys are better off if artificial insemination is used. The broad breasted can breed naturally when they are young but they are not efficient at it and can cause injuries to the hens.I have white turkeys and brown Turkestan will they cross breed?
My spring turkey poults have always laid in summer and fall. Except my Narragansetts I'm still waiting on them. They hatched end of April, I have never raised them before. Oh, its end of Nov. now. From my understanding if she hatched this spring she will start laying next spring. I have read some lay in the fall but that is not the usual case.
Heritage turkeys usually start laying during the spring of the year after they were hatched. My spring turkey poults have always laid in summer and fall. Except my Narragansetts I'm still waiting on them. They hatched end of April, I have never raised them before. Oh, its end of Nov. now.
They should start laying once the daylight hours are long enough this spring.I have a couple BB white turkey poults that were hatched early February (got at local farm store). Will they lay this year since they were earlier hatches?
