Another benefit of SFG is it is not as labor intensive as a traditional row garden. Since you start with "clean dirt", there's no weed seeds already in the mix, so there's almost no weeding to do - except for the few deposited by birds and wind. SFG is really fun, and had the chicks not arrived, my garden might have survived the summer this year. After the peeps got here, I spent time all my free time with them and none in the garden because chicks are cuter than vegetables...
I'm pretty excited about being able to add chicken manure to my compost pile, and I'm hoping for better results this winter and next spring!
