What's the tallest goat breed?

And here I always thought they were average Alpine size or smaller.

- Then again, aren't they basically another version of an Alpine?

Size depends on if you are talking about a show quality, pureblood goat or a % or mixed breed goat. Sometimes a goat may look exactly like a certain breed, but actually be a cross with a smaller or larger breed.

Depends on the goat, I raise Boers and they have a wide range in height depending on the breeding, Although Dairy breeds are usually taller, Where as meat breeds are heavier I have a couple of does that go 250 to 300 pounds the average is 150 and a full blood buck at almost 400. The tallest Goat in my herd is my Nubian doe. Boers all have dairy in their background so it's possible to get a tall one. I would still say that Nubians are usually taller goats.

I've done my research but I'm not getting a clear answer. The only breed I've seen actually stated as the tallest, whether or not it's true, is the Jamnapari goat. But the most common name to pop-up was the Nubian goat, which is the only breed I've ever owned and they are quite tall. My Nubian is a gelded 7-year-old, I haven't measured him, but he is definitely taller than any of the other goats at the farm we got him from. I doubt Nubian's are the tallest, but they are the bonniest for sure!!!
