Occasionally a goose will lay in the fall of the year it was born, but most geese wait until the following spring before laying.

Soccer Mom's africans started laying last November I believe, when they were just 5-7 months old, so it is certainly possible that yours will lay soon.

Nana (my african goose) was hatched April 12. It is now August 26. For the past 2 weeks, she has been scratching out a "nest" and laying in it for a while, then getting up after a few hours and goes about her day. Today, she refuses to get up! I checked under her, no egg. She is acting like a broody chicken!

I am watching her, and she is gathering grass and shoving it underneath her.... she is building her nest

Interesting!! I have 10 female africans between 3-6 months old and a pair of females that are 1.5+ year old. How common is egg laying in the fall? Do they go through a typical spring breeding season compete with gander behavior changes? Is it more geographical in nature?
