I am getting chicks from different sources within 7-10 days from each other and I was hoping to raise them together. My problem is, 1 group will be vaccinated at birth and the other group will not be. Can I vaccinate my birds at 3 days old while I wait on my other, vaccinated chicks, to join the crowd (the following week). I have a small flock out back (age ranging from 4 weeks to 1.5 years all) that have all be vaccinated.

I just don't want to make a mistake and cause harm to my girls.

Thanks.

Without causing a debate...I'll give my opinion Dawn.  Yes, you can vaccinate your 3 day olds.  And everyone will be fine.  Been there, done that.  thumbsup

Yes you can vaccinate them. The worst that would happen is that it might not work if they were already infected from elsewhere. The vaccine is based on a turkey virus so will not harm the others, but you could check on that by contacting the vaccine manufacturer.

No, that is not true.  It's just a bit more difficult.

make sure you don't get the diameter of the needle smaller than 25 G or it will shred the virus as it comes out and you will be vaccinating for nothing.
