Third time around Tampa Bay Area Chicken Swap - Saturday, January 28th

Saturday, January 28th, same location.


We are hosting a swap for all current and future flock tenders in the Tampa Bay area, in part to celebrate the recent victory in city council for chicken owners in un-incoorporated Pinellas County to be allowed 4 chickens in their back yard. celebrate
Many of you signed the petition for this to go through at my last two swaps, and we would like to thank you for your support!

When:Saturday, January 28th at 8:30am. You can come around 8:00 if you want to set up.

Where: My backyard, at 455 33rd Ave North, St.Petersburg, FL. I have about a 1/2 acre yard, with some shade but mostly sunny, so bring umbrellas or shade tents if you need them. It will probably be easier to bring in larger cages or bins through the back gates, which are accessable from the alley behind my house, which connects to 5th street. Just look for the aviary and grey house.

What: Bring your eggs, chickens, ducks, geese, or rabbits, but please nothing larger like goats or mini horses. I am also going to promote this locally as a chance for people to come learn about backyard chickens, so be prepared to answer questions. Some of the questions may even make it to the "Dumbest questions a city slicker has ever asked you" thread, as you will be smack dab in the middle of a city. But hey, we all have to start somewhere! Feel free to also bring snacks or drinks to share.

Hurray !!! I need a splash silkie hen and a Partridge silkie hen and even a calico silkie hen !!!!! If anyone has any . I live in town so No roos allowed where I'm from.

I wanted to add that there is a lot to do in St.Pete, both downtown or on the beaches. If anybody that is coming from further away wants to leave their chickens in my yard while they go out for a while, I'm happy to keep an eye on them.

I just got my first chickens last week.  What a great idea to have a chicken swap.  I may have to attend as more than a spectator/shopper if my silkie turns out to be a roo.  I hope not though.

One husband, 4 Shih Tzu, 1 Papillon, a myriad  of fish, 1 Muscovy pair, 11 muscovy ducklings, 1- silkie, 1- buff orpington, 1- plymouth rock, 1-easter egger, and 1 brown leghorn.

The chicken swap sounds great.  We have these out in North Carolina, but it rural here so more common.  I used to live in Tampa 4 years ago and it is great to see that urban chicken farming is happening there as well now!  Everytime I tell my friends in Florida about our backyard chickens they think I am crazy.  They just havn't caught onto it yet.  We love our girls and my children are learning so much from them.  Good luck with everything, if I still lived there I would come!!!

I'm coming with some turkeys, 2 hens and a tom, 6 young ones
and some Naked Necks, maybe some guineas too.
