In Northwest Florida a good healthy layer is $20. Swap and auction prices for healthy layers are $15-25.

I know in North Central Texas laying hens can cost anywhere from $12 to $55 a head. That is for hens that are anywhere from 16 weeks to a year old. I sell mine for anywhere in the $20 to $30 a head range. It just depends on supply and demand and the breed. I have also learned that the cheaper ones can be a great deal if the person doesn't know how much hens usually sale for but can also come with a lot of problems.
Around me most individuals want $15 for laying age hen, but if you have time on your side there is generally always someone looking to unload excess generic production birds for $5 or $10 in quantity...
