sorry to say it but they are both roos just the one is not developing hackle feathers like the other yet all roos don't mature at the same rate  also the waddles don't grow that large on a pullet till just before she starts laying which in this case for the breed type they are'nt old enough yet around 20 to 22 wks. is a good average for this type of chcken to go into production. They'll soon let you know if some have'nt yet with their vocalization of incessant crowing most prolly lol

PS still say they are BSL males that are easily pawned off as BRs as chicks, sorry but it happens all the time. sad

There's a whole world of differences between propagators and breeders. My goal is to propagate breeders towards the Standard of Perfection.

You can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear, you can make a purse out of it, but it won't be silk. LOL

Maybe in about another 30-40 years I'll get this "being an expert" thing figured out by then. LOL

well that's fine...i took another one from the living room while they poop on the terraza big_smile the one in question is on the far right.

I was wondering if it hadn't grown as fast as the others...my maid keeps saying her dad raises these kind and they all have big waddles like theirs.  I said but they're too young.  She said she thinks they're hens.  whatever.  I can see that 3 or 4 are most likey roos but this last one is a late bloomer.  Darn...i thought if i had one hen, I'd keep one roo & let them hatch more hens.  Thanks.  A few of them fight for position on top of the chicken tractor, in position to fight.  no crowing yet, just cackling.

the seller never tried to say they were br...always said they were rir...that's why i contacted you to see what the rir hen crossed w/a br roo looked like.

We really need tail feather pictures to confirm this better. They are pretty though.

I hate to agree with everyone but they look to be roos. The front right one if you look at the picture I can see one feather going half away up the tail & then it curls. They all look to have saddle feathers. Maybe keep one & get more that hopefully are hens.

Still all boys, sorry sad

Well, the kittens aren't so cute anymore and the easter egger cockerels are in the freezer. Plus, I think offering them as "prizes" scared folks off! So, I'm still posting quotes, if you know it let me know. I'm very enamored of this new one, it may hang around for a while!
