I got an overwhelming response & have comitted to send eggs to several people but have had to say no to many others. I don't want to keep my breeding pens together much longer so can't take any more egg orders. Thanks to everyone who responded & to those I've had to disappoint sorry, I'll be back next year.

Those are some very good looking chicks and so dark. I am glad Paul has reached the level to be able to share his birds with others. Paul what you and the family in Kansas need is a batch of eggs or chicks next year that are half Mohawks from Illinois and Half from Florida for some fresh blood. Maybe I can get some culls from Matt this fall and have a breeding pen to provide you guys with two week old chicks five to a box and pick one and cross it into your line for new fresh vigor. Then you will be off for ten more years and still have a pure 100 year old line of Mohawk Reds.  Even the two breeders in Illinois and Florida need this bad. In regards to mean Rhode Island Red Roosters I have never in 25 years seen one. I have at least 20 emails in twenty years telling me they had them. They where feed store Reds every time. Chicks like these are breed to be docile. New York Reds I am glad you where able to help folks out.

NOW RHODE ISLAND RED PEOPLE WHO ON THIS BOARD WHO READS THIS TREAD HAS THE OLD FASHION HERITAGE RHODE ISLAND REDS

Tell us who you are and what strain you have  and I will put together a data base for this fall so you can share your supplus adult birds with others and also for next breeding season so we can help the newbies who want to switch over. Remember newbies these are the dual purpose REDS not the high egg laying kind so if you want tons of eggs leave us alone. We breed and raise these for beauty, meat and moderate egg production only. That was the purpose of the Rhode Island Reds in the 1920s.  bob

I took off and below is what I got. These are the Old Mohawk line of RIR that I had ordered from Paul Gingerich (greathorse BYC), Paul also put in 4 Silver Laced Wyndottes (Foley line). I feel really honored to have this old line of RIR chicks to put with my others.   Jim

Hey Bob,

If you are talking about the Simmons family, do you have a way of getting in contact with them?

I've searched and searched and can't find any contact information.

Thanks

Jim

Here is a pic I was able to get of my favorite boy today while he was chasing bugs. He is my favorite because of personality.

I have talked to him several times and was going to drive down and get birds but

he would not call me back. So I will just go with the Illinois birds I have and get

more this fall...

Same here. I have chicks that I just got from greathorse (BYC) and they are doing really good. They are just a week old today. One thing about it, with having my own incubator it doesn't take to many to get a good start. It's just working to keep them at what they are to be. lol

Thanks
