Silkies Of A Different Color - Page 76

So I'm back..With more questions, lol. I have two Silkie chicks (about..9 weeks old? Maybe a bit older) that I'm not sure about their colors. I'll describe them a bit and also provide pictures.

Chick #1

Up until a week or two ago he was an overall White/off white color, except for right behind his head and on his neck a little. That part was always darker, more of a very light Buff or just a very creamy color. Now he's getting these red "spots" on his back and in his wings. His neck/behind his head is still a darker color than the rest of him.

Chick #2

She has always been (since I got her at 4-6 weeks old) a Lavender color all over (or very light Blue..I've never seen a Lavender Silkie in real life) with a tinge of Tan/Buff color on like the tips of her feathers, sort've. Her crest and neck is also much darker than the rest of her.

Any guesses on what color my little babies are? I'm hoping they're a pair, or at least that chick #2 is a girl.

I had a Blue Partridge chick hatch out last year that was all Blue with just a little tan coloring on her face. As her feathers grew in she became more and more brown and Partridge-looking. If you could post a picture that would help :).

thanks! I think your chicks may be mixed with a buff silkie and a white silke. Or maybe a blue with a buff.

Hi Im thinking maybe your first silkie might be a red paint...they have been getting them every now and again and the second is probably a porcelain as they are lavender and buff mixed together...cute chicks.

Thought I would post this little one over here to see what you all think its color could be. It has a bluish head with orangey coloring on the body, then bluish tail. Has very light, almost white underfluff.

Thanks for the input! You know what's funny, my sister kept saying he looked like a Paint as well, I didn't know there was such a thing as Red Paint. I'll have to look into that. Thanks :)

She/he is adorable! I'm not good at guessing colors, but I'd say it'll probably grow up to look a lot like the Porcelain pictured here: http://www.backyardchickens.com/t/230559/porcelain-silkies
