Quail in Wyoming

I can smuggle some up from Colorado. I have been considering a new career as an outlaw....

Ooooh. We could branch out into forgery also, and forge a bill of sale!

Oh, the tragedy of it. Making criminals out of people who want to be self-sufficient!

I was at a survival retreat in TX.....with 34 people from around the USA.
I was at a barter blanket and traded a bee hive with bees for 12 quail. I live in Wyoming. What do I need to do They are Texas A&M White Quail. Was told by the man that I have 6 male and 6 females. that they are breed to not fly, nest, and are like meat rabbits. Wyoming Game and fish have know clue what they are. and are not sure what to do. I did not plan on ever having them. I thought it would be nice for my boy that does chickens. I do not want to hurt my lands habit. My understanding is it is a domesticated bird for meat and egg production like/but not like chickens.

HELP> I want no problems and I am building a 48' pen for them, ( was told that for meat they only need a pen 2x2x1 stackable cages. do to the fact they are domesticated and not a wild game bird.) I found a vet, had game and fish stop by.....what do I need to do.....got on a hand shake and a far trade from honorable men.

Hello, I also live in WY, and couldn't find where to buy the adult quails. If you find some one already, please let me know! thank you :)

2020 and nothing has changed. Wyoming still has horrific regulations, which the good old boys just ignore. Or two examples of getting a chapter 10 permit by laying a C-note in the inspectors hand.

Hatcheries will ship, and no one checks. Or try facebook poultry pages; find someone with eggs and drive to Montana and pick them up in person.

Game and fish personel told me that the application and regulations are not posted on line becuase..... they want to be part of the process from end to end, and that the rules are ...case by case, and they want to be sure that you are the right kind of person.

found two cases of Permit by C-note

Wyoming Law, actually enforcement by the regulators, and real life are pretty disconnected in Wyoming. Helps the good old boys, and blocks those who actually expect any of this to make sense.

Example: Wyoming law states that Police must seize an poultry transported in a vehicle that does not have a poultry transport license. But there is no agency issuing regulations or said licences. Its one of those "we'll get you if we don't like you" laws. One that you can not possibly comply with. So clearly something else is at play here.

Example: Chapter 10 permit required for keeping game birds. They won't make make the permit application, regulations or housing guideline public. If you really push Cheyenne will send you the only thing they have: Wildlife Rehabilitation Housing guidelines, which in BOLD type state a maximum number, for pheasants, of FOUR. No one raising gamebirds can operate with only four birds. None of it makes any sense.

One good old boy told me that, years ago, Game and fish gave him a huge run around on his first permit. No matter what he did, they always wanted something more, something different. Always some new request. Finally he just went ahead and brought in his birds. When an inspector showed up, he handed him a $100 told him to get the **** off the property. Shortly the permit showed up and renewals were never a problems. '

If you were looking for some logical connection between Law, regulations and applications, you will be frustrated. Do what is reasonable, keep you head low, and just bribe them if they show up
