Wanna see the BIGGEST egg ever? - Updated!

Thread Starter

So today I was just going out, minding my own business, collecting a bunch of eggs, then suddenly. . . . I grabbed this enormous, monstrous freak of nature!!

It is obviously from a new Marans pullet, and just looks pale because the color has been sprayed over such a vast surface. . . (none of my Marans normally lay this pale of eggs) but golly I feel SOO sorry for the poor girl who had to pass this boulder!!

And to REALLY get an idea of size, here's it against normal eggs. . .

I've come a cross a LOT of double yolkers, freakishly big eggs (and not double yolkers) and so on. . . But nothing like this guy. I weighed it, and it was 6 ounces.

Somewhere out there,  you've got a bowlegged hen....

Lavender Orpingtons and one little white Silkie.   Currently seeking a mixed flock of pullets for my hen pen.  ISO Ameraucana - Cinnamon Queens - Black Copper Marans - Olive Eggers = 2 pullets each.

Holy geez, you need to find that hen and give it a hug and a pep talk. It hurts just looking at that.

Are you gonna open it up and see if theres a triple yolker in there??

If there ever comes a day when we can't be together keep me in your heart, I'll stay there forever - Winnie the Pooh
I'll never develop a thick skin.  Thick skin leads to a hard heart and I never want to be one of those people.

The only time I got one that size, it was an egg in an egg.  The inside egg was a Jumbo.  The hen didn't lay again for a week and then only laid Large eggs for 2 weeks.
