American serama thread! - Page 1315

If 2 Silkied Seramas are bred together do you get all Silkied chicks? Not sure how that works.

hi all i am working on my second batch of chicks at 3 days old and I was hoping somone with some really good quality show birds might have pics of chicks of their best birds at aout the same age so I can see if there is a way to cull early . I have a store that wants them but I want to keep them until I can assess them . if there is a way to remove the worst early on I would love to see it. thanks

You most definitely can put in the order and it should be the goal of every mating!  Whether the order gets filled is a different story .  lol

 On the the order of critique though  if that bird is in a natural stacne and you can get a better posture out of him not only should he be bred he should be shown ! He should be the foundation of your line to boot.

 I am not a Serama "breeder" but I do look at the standard and realize as beautiful as chainsaw is he does not make the cut.  His daughter is an improvement and I plan to continue with her and her mother but I am thinking I would like to get a better rooster to use. (anyone out there that was fond of Chainsaw please get in touch he would be available free for shipping if I can get a better quality bird) Your #1 has all of the qualities (except color) that I have been wanting in my serama. He has a good full tail that just about touches the back of his neck and a great line from eye to foot with a short back and nice S posture . I would love to hear about a boy child of his looking for a home if he has the same qualities . Daughters would work too , just not as well or fast, can do a lot more with a roo than a hen .

 Can you post pics of the hens he has mated with. If you want to Pm me we can do a bit of back and forth of pics maybe trades ?  We also need to find this Jonnie that LA has sent birds to HAHA

Lancelot (bird 1) is the Roo to the babies that I am growing out.  Keeping my fingers crossed that I get ones as nice (or better yet, nicer) than he is.  They are still too young to tell anything really.  One clutch is ten days old and the other is two days old.

I just got my first Serama pair today!! They are adorable and soo tiny, I'm thinking maybe A class? but I'm not sure cause I'm just getting started with them. The roo is having a crowing match with my big RIR roo, the Serama wins for style but not for volume  Ill get  pics of them up in a little bit.

Anyway, the next county over is having a fair next month and I think they are doing poultry.. I'm thinking of entering just to see what happens (I've never been in a show of any kind before) and I would LOVE it if a couple of you guys that show your birds could give me some tips and pointers for how to get started. I'd eventually like to go to the big shows but I want to start small and work my way up, especially since they are new birds.

http://www.wildwestseramas.com/index.html  Sorry I have not been on here.  We have been super busy out on the west coast building up many serama events and fun shows.  There are several great new serma clubs out here such as Wild West Serama club Above is the link we have a Face BOOK page etc.  We are holding our second show in Reno Nevada this november 2012.  The HIgh Roller serama classic will be Judged by Grand Pa Jack.  Looking forward to meeting many wonderful people from Oregon and washington..  We will be starting a auction to gain funds for this event and for all joined official club members you will be able to enter in to a raffle to WIN a very nice pair of seramas...
