American serama thread! - Page 8

Here is the hen that is similar to Elvis ... don't know if it helps or makes it worse, I've never seen one like her either.  I'll have to get a better picture of her tomorrow if I can get her off of the nest, she has changed really dramatically because her big girl tail feathers are almost all in and really nice now.

In this one he is not standing as well ... but you can see the tan better.  In the first picture it got washed out.  Also, you can see his juvie tail feathers that need to molt out better smile  You can see his blue better in this one too.  In pictures he looks more black than blue, but in person, he's more blue.

he looks like either an incomplete silver quail or a silver lakenvelder...

the cream colored wing really throws me off... makes me think he has a dilute of some sort in his make up... but what would have red wings and white quail style body...? hmm... very interesting birdie...

Wow the Lakenvelder is pretty close, except they have clean white instead of cream and tan in there.

yes, but like i said... and i always say about serama... it might be an incomplete pattern... so incomplete quail or incomplete lakenvelder... but it's probably a cream lakenvelder... hmm...

LOL I think I need to read a genetic book for chickens!  I took genetics in college too, but we were pretty much focused on the ecoli genome to learn how change happens.  Then I switched to nursing smile  Cream Lakenvelder sounds good smile  They are not related ... or at least not direct sibs.  Meaning I know they have different parents, but maybe the parents are related?  IDK, I'll have to ask their breeder.

Yay Im so glad we have a thread again. Im always a lurker but I was so sad when I saw that the malaysian thread was closed, I learned so much over there. Two of my seramas are moulting right now, my hen lost her tail and some other little feathers and the roo has lost some wing and a sickle so far. They started 2 weeks ago, how long till they loose all the feathers they are gonna loose? Will they be fully feathered in by the end of september? My county fair is then and this is my last year in 4-h and I really want to show them.

5 Serama, 1 Mille Fluer D'uccle Hen, 11 Silkies, and 1 Showgirl Cock, 3 new rescues, 2 OEGB and another mille fleur D'uccle. I am crazy about Seramas and Silkies but also love D'uccle and OEGB. Looking to buy chocolate, barred and blue Serama this summer/fall!! Will settle for eggs not just birds.
