Ok has anyone ever came up with a Blue Japanese Bantam chicken . If so how did you come up with this color Bantam , I was thinking on a project of blue japanese bantam which I was thinking on using a small orp hen with a blk jap. Roo and cross breed them to come up with a small size blue jap. bantam , I know I would have to keep cross breeding the offspring for two different pairs and re breed the chicks to the fathers /mothers to sons and daugthers an vice a virser ..........

any input would be great this is going to take some time and a few yrs I guess but any input on anyone trying this new breed would be great..........

I hope you have better luck than I did.

Thank for that infor. ,
But I'm starting my project of Blue Japanese Bantam Chickens this Month of Nov. 2010 .
I'm trying to breed a Black Jap. Male with a small Lt. Blue colored project chicken female that I purchase this pass year , she is a little larger then the bantam size but not that much bigger-and half or smaller the size of a stander size chicken , more like a game bird chicken size .
From what I seen in pic.'s or have read on the chicken sites and hatchery ,It seems that there are only White Jap.= Black Jap. = Black tail White Jap.= Buff Black Tail Jap. ,On these Breeds . I think it would be cool if there would be more colors of the Japanese Bantams.

Thanks TheFeatheredTempest

looks like over seas ,have more of a varity of colors in most all breeds of chickens , looks like we are way behind

I think there are several varieties people are working on. I have barred japs and I am working on crele and bar-tailed white. Several others are working I believe on Silver or Gold Laced, BB Red, Lemon Blue, Blue, Wheaton, and probably a few others. It just takes several generation to get them where you want them.

i have solid blue japs, have had them for 5 years, had the 4th best jap at the japanese bantam breeders national in 2011,at winston-salem,n.c. on ablue jap cockrel
