he all the other eggs (12 of em!) dotn appear to be doing anything. Ill wait a few days, but all the eggs looked good at lockdown and now.... only 7 chickies?!?!
In other news we almost had a disaster last night. litte bro left the towel i use to cover the brooder right next to the lightbulb used to keep the chickies warm, and the towel caught on fire. Amazingly, not one of the chicks was hurt and neither was the house woot but the place smelled like smoke for hours.

Well, my December hatch is finally done. I took the last straggler out of the bator this morning and stuck her under the broody. The broodies other 2 eggs hatched last night. So, I have 5 with the broody (3 are hers and 2 I gave her fron the incubator) and 10 in the regular brooder. My final count was 15 out of 21.

I have 24 set to hatch on the 21st of December. I also staggered the hatch and have 13 more to hatch in 2 weeks.

Did I mention that I have 27 1month old Chicks in a Heated brooder in the basement already celebrate

My dedicated other half is just as excited as I am, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years babies!!!!
When he says something about the time consuming part I remind him he was all GO when I bought and/or set our eggs
And now that they are here we have no choice but to take EGGCELLENT care of them cause those Blue egg layers and Chocolate egg layers are gonna be spoiled aDult chickens!

GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE ON THEIR PLANNED HATCHES!!

I have 2 pips! This is either day 20 or 21, depending on how you count - I set them late Thanksgiving night. Temps have been quite good this time around and all the eggs had movement last time I candled so I have pretty high hopes fl

ETA: The second pip just hatched! First chick is out!!!!! wee First pip is turning to zip - feathers, er um, fuzz is sticking out of the shell lol, and a third egg just pipped! Chicken popcorn has begun!!!!!!!!! ya
