If it wasnt for my ducks I would have had to buy eggs for my holiday baking. Granted I have A LOT of girls that arent laying yet, but geeze this is crazy lately. It was not this bad las year and I have more chickens now.

Yes, I had to buy eggs this week. I'm only getting maybe 1 or 2 eggs daily out of 12 layers.
Between the less than 10 hours of daylight and the molters, thats the best my babies can do.

My girls are still laying. I used some for baking and I still have a couple dozen left. I hope they continue laying because I haven't bought eggs since my girls started laying. The fresh eggs taste sooo much better.
I have a total of 18 possible layers and I get 6 to 12 eggs a day. No supplemental lighting. I have given away dozens of eggs to friends and neighbors this season. I have three ages of hens and that helps. Some of the older hens are coming out of molt so I hope I can get more later.
