Coronation Sussex Thread!

Pics
Hello-I recently hatched some Coronation and Light Sussex. Up until now I only previously had speckled. I got very lucky and looks like I have 2 Cor. pullets. Not so lucky that all the Light are boys.
My question: the Coronation seem much more shy and timid by comparison. I don't know if this is a breed difference or just male vs female. All the Light don't mind being handled. Some clearly enjoy it. The Coronation prefer to be left alone. Has anyone raised both and noted they are a little more timid?

Congrats on the hatch! I only had one coro sussex pullet & she was stand-off-ish at first. She calmed down a lot when she started laying. Sadly, she died due to excessive heat when only 18 mo old.

It's been a few years now, and I still miss my big beautiful hen. I broke down & bought some coro sussex eggs yesterday. I was able to find the same breeder. They should arrive on Thurs.

Sorry to hear about the heat loss. We can get 105+ days here so I have that challenge too. Thank you for the input. Hopefully they will mellow out when the hormones kick in. Good luck with your hatch!:jumpy

Mail doesn't always make sense. The best hatch on shipped eggs came from NC. The breeder dropped them off at the PO on her end & wrote: "Hold for pick up" with my PH# on the label. All went well, some usual wiggly air cells, & 80% hatched!!!! That was 3 years ago.

I requested the seller to do the same with my current batch of eggs. He did, but the post master told our letter carrier that she had to deliver them. BTW- Our letter carrier is awesome. She called our house & asked if she could deliver the package right away rather than have the eggs in her truck all day. (She knows we hatch chicks.) I thanked her with some backyard eggs.
Can you tell me where the best place to buy coro sussex are? I live in nc. Ty
