How much money do YOU make selling your quail eggs?

That really depends on the economy I think. Season before last (spring/summer 2009) I was making $40+ weekly from selling eggs for hatching on ebay and on here. I had orders 2-3 weeks out all season long.

This past season I think I might have made $40 total, maybe $80. People just weren't buying eggs this past season like they were the one before. I had to hatch a lot of quail to try and take a little of the feed bill edge off.

None! I eat them all!

To clarify, I have a small number of birds.  One of the reasons I have them is eggs (the other is pets). Eating chicken eggs makes me nauseous. It's not the idea of eating chicken eggs that makes me sick. It's something about the proteins in them. (The amount in baked goods is okay. But, none scrambled, fried, etc.)  However, my coturnix & button quail eggs are fine for me.

So... Yum!  I don't care if it costs me a few dollars to have an omelet. It probably does since I keep all the extra boys around...

(I currently have 29 buttons & 18 coturnix, though 9 are too young to lay eggs and I don't know their gender yet.)

i been selling coturnix quail for 20 yrs. i have to make 16 cents an egg for me to gain a 45% profit..

day old chick quail are 1.00 a piece i will hold til 3 days of age then the price goes up the more i have to care an feed usually by 4 weeks of age they are 2.75

Nothing! People around here have NO CLUE what to do with them! LOL

I have managed to find people who know about the wonders of duck eggs though.

I sell hatching eggs on ebay and on my website for 4.00 a dozen. I also sell them at the farmers market and have an ad at the co-op.

I found a place where I am in Florida that sells a great mash.  The more you buy the less it is.  I get 100lbs of layer mash for 16 bux.  Every 500lbs I think it goes down.  People where I am drive for miles to get this food.  I have also noticed a great difference in the birds since I stopped going to my local feed store.  If you are anywhere near the Gainesville area let me know I can give you the name.  I dont know if mentioning it outright is like free advertising or something. I dont want to get in any trouble.

OH and ps I get about 3 dollars a carton for chicken eggs.  I can get about 5 for Quail but I really only sell to friends right now.  I have to apply for some farm license to sell and label them not for human consumption.  I will work on that when I start hatching my own and have more than 19 hens..and 30 quail.

Feed, New Stock/ Blood/ Speces, Pen Materials, Permit/ Licence Fees, Shipping Materials== All Paid For 100% By Egg Sales. They Support Themselves And The Farm End Of It 100%, Now If I Could Just Get Me And The Dogs Supported By It.....
